Mutton with Kumbalanga Varutharachathu

This is a recipe by my mother in law...
She cooks it awesome...
After settling here only i tried it.....
It came out well... :)

Here is the recipe....

U Need...

1 .Mutton                      : 500g
2. Onion                        : 1 Medium sized (finely chopped)
3. Garlic                        : 5 No (finely chopped)
4. Ginger                       : 2 inch piece (finely chopped)
5. Green Chilly              : 5 No (ends splitted)
6. Curry leaves              : As required
7. Turmeric Powder      : 1 teaspoon
8. Coriander Powder    : 2 table spoon
9. Chilly Powder           : 1 tablespoon
10.Salt                          : As required
11.Coconut                   : Half a coconut
12.Ashgaurd                  : 100g (cut into small pieces)
13.Small Onion              : 3 No (chopped)
14.Oil                            : 1 tablespoon






How to Cook..

1.Mix it with mutton pieces along with ingredients 1 to 10.(Coriander powder and Chilly powder should be heated in a frying pan before mixing).
2.Keep it aside for 30 mins.
3.Cook the mix with a small amount of water in pressure cooker until 5 whistles.
4.Fry coconut in frying pan and grind it with some water and add it to the cooked meat.
5.Add pieces of Ashgaurd also into it.
6.Add more water if needed.
7.Boil it for 10 mins in low flame.
8.Finally fry the chopped small onion in 1 tablespoon oil and add it to the curry.

Goes well with Rice and Chappathi...

  1. I have never heard of this combo before; may be 'cos I have never been a great fan of mutton other than biriyanis. Will surely try out next time when I buy mutton. Looks really spicy! :)
